The Barclay’s Premier League is my favorite football to watch. I love the speed and end to end action. But like many of you, I am at a loss for a couple of months until it starts back up again. I have tried time and time again to watch Major League Soccer, but since all the guys I grew up playing against are now retired (I never made it to MLS but many guys I played against did) I find it hard to relate to the young guns with the exception of one Florida based pro who offered up this review of my novel The Gift of Stoppage Time.

The Silly season (transfer window) is about to kick off and I think the most interesting moves will be the ones Chelsea will or will not make. I actually like the Falcao to Chelsea rumor even though he has been more or less a bust at Man Utd. Chelsea require a strong striker who can play with his back to goal, stay centralized and really fight to find space and possession. That will fit Falcao and Chelsea just fine. Would love to see Pogba coming to Chelsea too, but in the end…I think Juve will hold onto him.
I was very excited about Pirlo coming to MLS but that doesn’t seem to be happening…but I will tune in soon to see Gerrard and Lampard make their MLS debuts. I think both players should shred porous MLS defenses with their passing.
Barcelona is too good…thought the Champions League final wasn’t a boat race, I think we all saw from very early on that is was Barca’s to lose. Too much talent, too much balance, too much team spirit…and Messi to boot. They are poetry in motion, but make the game look almost too easy.
The Women’s World Cup will feature a single champion and I am predicting that the US will win it all. Must like Barca, the USWNT has too much attacking talent in Rapinoe, Wambach, Morgan and Leroux…nobody will be able to stop them!
